Culture Days is a collaborative, Canada-wide volunteer movement to raise the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. LocoMotoArt Collective were pleased to be included and involved with the 2013 Culture Days BC, with an indoor exhibition in the Oak Room of Aberthau Mansion in West Point Grey. LocoMotoArt, presented 5 works exploring culture; the texture and patterns of nature; language and words as expressions, thoughts and impressions of the world around us. This was also an opportunity to thank our many supporters including our wonderful volunteers, sponsors and members of the Park Board. The event included a buffet-style meal, which included a digital projection on our cake, a sound art performance, indoor and outdoor audio, video and interactive art. Exhibiting and performing LMAC Artists: Graham Brown, Merlyn Chipman, Laura Lee Coles, Bobbi Kozinuk, Sebnem Ozpeta, Wynne Palmer, Rob Scharein, Miles Thorogood and Phil Thomson. Telling Traces a multimedia installation by LMA Collecitve resident artist Sarah Shamash and Aisha Jamal at Aberthau Mansion - West Point Grey Community Centre engaged 35 participants into a world of exploring ideas around the myths / fictions / truths of oral family histories in the context of Middle Eastern diaspora and the Arab spring.
